The Pittsburgh Steelers have surpassed the perceived average with a B+ rating for their free agency acquisitions and departures. One notable signing highlighted by PFF is linebacker Patrick Queen, whom they predict to follow a trajectory similar to Tremaine Edmunds, achieving a breakout season and earning Pro Bowl honors. Despite Queen’s strong performance in the latter part of 2022, the Steelers managed to secure him at a reasonable price compared to other linebacker contracts this offseason.
Queen signed a three-year, $41 million deal with the Steelers after a solid four-year stint with the Baltimore Ravens. While the Ravens opted not to exercise Queen’s fifth-year option and pursued Roquan Smith, the Steelers view Queen as a valuable addition to their roster.
Another significant move by the Steelers was the signing of quarterback Russell Wilson, who will be paid the league minimum, presenting an exceptional value proposition. This move provides the Steelers with a significant upgrade at the quarterback position, considering Wilson’s caliber, despite the fact that the Denver Broncos are also contributing to his salary following his release.
